Carcassonne, situated in the heart of Aude, a region steeped in history by its cathare origins and the occitan culture which still reigns here.
Firstly the City, a magnificent medieval town which stands away from the town centre, is classed a World Heritage site as is the famous Canal du Midi which passes through the town.
Surrounded by the Corbières and the Montagne Noire, with Narbonne and the Mediterranean Sea 50km and Toulouse 90km away a large number of activities and visits are available to you in the stunning and varied surrounding country.

• In the Bastide Saint-Louis (town centre) : Cathédrale Saint-Michel (14th century), Eglise Saint Vincent (14th-15th century)

Gallo-roman to 14th century, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Unique in the world, a complete medieval city with two rows of fortifications and 52 towers.
• In the Bastide Saint Louis : Musée des Beaux Arts- Maison des Mémoires (various exhibitions, exhibition "Joë Bousquet et son
temps" – life & times of a local poet).
• In the Cité Médiévale : Dépôt Lapidaire (lapidary museum), Musée de l'Ecole (school museum), Musée de la Chevalerie (chivalry &
arms).
• At the foot of the ramparts : Musée "Mémoires Moyen Age (memories of the Middle Ages).
