Lozari is situated 10 minutes from the port of ILE ROUSSE and 30 minutes from CALVI airport.The name of the village means ‘beautiful pleasure’, doubtless referring to its geographical situation above the Prato valley which makes it a superb viewpoint. In addition, the olive groves on the hillside and the many orchards heighten the sense of well being one feels when strolling around the village.
The village has a church, l'Eglise Saint-Thomas, founded in 1269 by Andrea Malaspina. And it was the same Malaspina family who built the château de la Costa which dominates the area with its beautiful chapel of white Carrare marble. The village overlooks the magnificent Lozari beach which stretches around the bay.
