Lyon is not only a European megalopolis and the second biggest urban area in France (with the Part-Dieu district constanly expanding), the city
is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site (its traboules – traditional passageways linking buildings – which are unique in the world, Vieux Lyon - the largest Renaissance district in Europe, Fourvière Hill and its basilica, the slopes of the Croix Rousse ...), and has, in addition, the well deserved reputation as gastronomic capital (great chefs, bouchons - small informal restaurants, food market...).

• Visits : from gallo-roman remains to contemporary architecture – not forgetting the Romanesque and Gothic buildings – Lyon has preserved the ancient parts of the city, testimony to its 2000 year history ...
• Heritage : City of Art and creativity, Lyon has acquired a unique know-how in various spheres. Textile and fashion, jewellery, furnishings or design… these are some of its specialities. The objects and mosaics displayed at the Musée de la Civilisation gallo-romaine de Fourvière, the astronomical clock of the Cathédrale St Jean, the early printing presses, parchments and lead characters exhibited in the Musée de l’Imprimerie… are invitations to travel back in time.
• The Regional Parks : Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat, Parc Naturel des Monts d’Ardèche, Parc Naturel Régional de Chartreuse, Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors, Le Parc Naturel Régional du Massif des Bauges.
• The big city parks : le Parc de la tête d’or, the Grand Lyon Acquarium, Le Parc de Gerland, Le Domaine de Lacroix-Laval, the zoos and animal parks (Le Safari Parc de Peaugres, Parc animalier de Courzieu, Espace zoologique de Saint Martin la Plaine, Parc des Oiseaux (birds), Touroparc).
• The museums : musée des Beaux Arts (art gallery), Musée de la civilisation gallo romaine, musée des tissus (fabrics), musée Gadagne, Centre d’histoire de la résistance et de la déportation, Institut Lumière (cinema, photography), Institut d’Art Contemporain, musée de l’imprimerie (printing), Musée des Hospices de Lyon.
