Lyon is not only a European megalopolis and the second biggest urban area in France (with the Part-Dieu district constanly expanding), the city
is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site (its traboules – traditional passageways linking buildings – which are unique in the world, Vieux Lyon - the largest Renaissance district in Europe, Fourvière Hill and its basilica, the slopes of the Croix Rousse ...), and has, in addition, the well deserved reputation as gastronomic capital (great chefs, bouchons - small informal restaurants, food market...).
