Capital of the Alps, Grenoble enjoys an exceptional geographic setting: the city lies at the convergence of 3 mountain ranges, the Vercors, Belledonne and Chartreuse massifs.
The essence of Grenoble lies in its contrasts. Lively and welcoming, the flattest city in France is also a true Alpine metropolis which sets its sights high – both to the surrounding mountain peaks, and in search of excellence.

Grenoble is a city steeped in history, as well as art and culture. It boasts numerous theatres, cinemas, shows and concert halls ...
It is also home to highly reputed art galleries such as the musée de Grenoble, the oldest modern art gallery in France, exhibiting works from Egyptian antiquity up to major works of Picasso, Matisse, Van Dongen; or Le Magasin, Centre National d’Art Contemporain, which stages three or four original exhibitions of contemporary art per year.
• The old town : Grenoble has several little known architectural and cultural treasures : les Places St André, Notre Dame, Grenette, Le Palais de Justice, Le Jardin de Ville.
• The fortifications : Of the walls which surrounded Grenoble in former times, there exist today just a few remains such as the Fort de Bastille, accessible by cable car or by 400 steps. At the top you will have an incomparable view over the whole city of Grenoble.
